Oceans Apart is an activewear brand that sees itself as “fashionable, comfortable and unapologetically feminine”. They came to Craft Words to help them describe everything in the impressive range on their website, from bottoms to tops. After all, anyone can write product descriptions but writing them in an ownable tone of voice requires an active approach to activewear.

Sportswear fits us perfectly

Craft Words brought reassuringly good experience in sportswear, thanks to our work with Nike Sportswear  and Dunlop. We’d proven ourselves very capable of writing copy that not only connects with and engages an activewear audience, but does it in a way that avoids sounding like everyone else. 

The fitness to scale up

We’re also very good at scaling up very quickly. We assembled a team to handle a stream of work that started as a trickle and soon became like drinking from a fire hydrant. Thanks to our flexible structure we were able to mobilise a squad of writers, translators, and Project Managers to make sure the job was delivered on time as well as on brand.

Tone maintenance

Sometimes we create a tone of voice for a brand from scratch. Other times it pre-dates our involvement. Either way is fine with us. We didn’t create the Oceans Apart tone of voice, but we very quickly understood it and ran with it. Ensuring that every corner of the brand experience maintained a consistent personality.

An active success

The result of our involvement in the project was threefold. Firstly, we cracked through a mountain of work very quickly, helping Oceans Apart meet deadlines and avoid a copy bottleneck. Secondly, we proved that their tone of voice was infinitely adaptable and applicable to their business, from the most obvious places to the smaller nooks and crannies. And perhaps most important of all, we had a very happy client who appreciated our efforts to take away the pressure and strain to make things happen quickly and professionally.
